While we were in FL my parents were nice enough to watch Gavin for us each day so Jake and I could go have some fun on our own. Here he is playing with water balloons with Grandma:

Back to beach on Sunday evening. This time we went to a public beach further down Okaloosa Island. There happened to be a sand alligator there, much to Gavin's delight. "Along came Mr. Alligator, quiet as

can be..."

                      

We decided this trip to just take Gavin to the beach in the evenings to avoid dealing with sunscreen and sunburns. Since he's not old enought to play in the waves yet that worked out just fine. I love evenings on the beach- it's cooler, there are less people, and it is a beautiful time of day:

We spent the evening at the beach at the Boardwalk. We were pleasantly suprised to find that the water was warmer than it usually is on Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately there was also a lot of seaweed, but seeing as how we weren't planning on taking Gavin boogie boarding or anything it didn't effect us too much.

Beware of toddlers with shovels and plenty of sand:

Ready for FL

Gavin just tried on his like jacket for our Florida trip. I told him when he wore it he could swim like a fish. Here is his interpretation:

It's finally done!

It's official! Our homestudy for adoption #2 has been approved, meaning we are legally ready to adopt again. Just need to find a baby. In other news, Gavin has been talking quite a bit more the last few days. In additon to "big truck (dig dug)" which he has been saying for a couple weeks, he is now saying "basketball (ball-ball)", "love you", "amen", "clean up (dean up)", "tv (dd)" and "did it," which I'm guessing he learned from Bob the Builder. Who says tv isn't educational?

I worked yesterday and today, which meant Gavin was home learning new tricks with Jake. Apparently this is now his favorite youtube clip:

Jake said he just kept watching it over and over and laughing hysterically. Last night Jake gave Gavin a shower. After he took Gavin's diaper off Jake mentioned the sneezing panda to Gavin. He laughed so hard he peed on the rug. Today I asked Gavin "What does a panda say?" His reply was "Achoo!."

Tyler the wonder dog

Dear Tyler,

We have been through a lot together these past almost nine years. You have kept me warm at night when Jake works the night shift. You made Gavin laugh the first night we brought him home. You clean the floor under Gavin's chair. You have somehow avoided getting run over every time you escape from the house and run off like a greyhound posessed. You have calmed down a lot with age, but your barking at every person that walks by the house and every out of place noise remains. It didn't bother me too much before Gavin, but now my sleep is more precious, and so is his. Since Gavin joined our family your barking has driven me

nuts.  

But today I would like to thank you for your barking. Thank you for standing outside of Gavin's room during naptime and barking. Because when I walked over to pick you up and try to keep you from waking up Gavin I heard some activity in his room. I opened the door just as Gavin was dumping a box of 64 crayons onto his bed. He had gotten into his closet, which I thought had been locked, and gotten the crayons, which should have been on a high shelf, and opened them up. So Tyler, I think the catastrophic mess you prevented today makes up for all your nuisance barking in the past. So thank you Tyler, today you earned your keep.

Noah's Ark

Jake's parents are in town for a visit and today we decided to take Gavin to see some animals. We went to an animal rehabilitation center south of Atlanta: http://www.noahs-ark.org/. Gavin enjoyed it, and especially liked the peacocks, who Gavin thought were saying "help!"
