Hilton Head Island

Over fall break we spent 3 nights on Hilton Head Island. Although it is only 3 hours from here we had never been before. I was pleasantly surprised. It was beautiful. We stayed on the northeast shore of the island where the ocean meets the sound. I picked it because the condo we stayed at has a natural beach, with lots of shells and critters, which I knew Gavin would love. And it is beautiful. But we were all surprised with how amazing the beach is at low tide. The water recedes so so far out, revealing oyster beds, lots of room to walk and play, and lots of shells.  I've never seen anything like it.

August 2020

First day of 7th grade

At the bus stop. Since then I've started driving him in the morning so we can all sleep in a little.

                      First day of 1st grade, at a brand new Primary school just down the road:

We thought we'd take some big trip to celebrate our 20th anniversay but due to covid we celebrated at home, eating Chinese food with the kids. We watched "The Peanut Butter Falcon" as a family. It was a good night!

Amelia ended up doing virtual school again for a week and a half when a kid in her class tested positive for covid:

 

July 2020

            We managed to still have our usual 4th of July party with friends, swimming, and fireworks:

I decided to finally paint the kitchen. I've disliked the color since moving here in Nov 2010. It was the first room I ever painted and it turned out great. I love the color, intellectual gray:

Jake did a great job keeping our yard up this summer. The kids and lots of friends enjoyed the pool and playset lots of mornings and afternoons. We are thankful to have the pool so we can spend time with friends in a fairly corona-safe manner. I never took any pictures because I was always so happy to have other adults to sit on the porch and talk to that I never even thought of it. 

Free school lunches are awesome! We shared some of the excess with my parents a few times this summer and they appreciated it too!

I ordered astro camp in a box for the kids this summer. They enjoyed it but it was a bit overstimulating for Gavin.
