Gavin had a low-key 9th birthday last weekend. Friday evening he got his new bike with hand brakes, gears, and without training wheels, and then spent all day Saturday learning to ride it. Jake helped him for a couple hours, but the rest of the time Gavin persistently practiced riding. And now he does a great job! We are so proud of the effort he put into this endeavor, and the resilience he has shown in trying over and over after multiple failures without giving up. Sunday after church we continued the birthday celebration by watching Finding Dory, eating good food, watching the Super Bowl and having ice cream sundaes. I was going to make Gavin an ice cream cake but he and I had a stomach bug the prior week I was still recovering from. Nine is going to be a great year for Gavin. He is doing well in school, no behavioral issues and all A's and B's. Recess is his favorite subject. He earned his wolf badge in cub scouts and has moved on to the bear pack. His favorite color is green, favorite foods are pizza and popcorn, favorite tv show is AFV (America's Funniest Home Videos), favorite toy is legos, and favorite thing to play is Army. His favorite thing to do is ride his new bike.
Amelia is doing well on her bike too:
She plays in her tent just about every day:
