Our weekend

Last Friday night was our church Christmas party. Gavin was excited to wear his Dinosaur sweater, another much appreciated hand-me-down, for the first time. He's been into dinosaurs since PBS started a new kids show called "Dinosaur Train." He likes to put his hands up and roar like a dinosaur. It's the same motion he makes to indicate anything that's scary. Here he is pointing to the dinosaur:

At the party Gavin once again had issues with Santa. This time he refused to sit on his lap at all. Normally Gavin really likes Brother Bonner and will let him hold him but for some reason Brother Bonner in a Santa suit freaked him out.  Notice Gavin pulling his hand away:

Saturday Gavin's grandparents came to visit him. They brought him a stuffed dog that sings and dances. Gavin wasn't too sure what to think of it at first, but by Saturday night he loved it. Here he is pushing the button in its foot to turn it on:

Gavin decided the best place for the dog was sitting on his car. He likes to turn him on, put him on the car, and then dance around:

Dadin!

Gavin has been saying his name for about a week. It sounds like "Dadin" or "Davin." Today he started speaking in the 3rd person. Instead of saying "mine" like most toddlers when he wants something he points to it or grabs it and says "Dadin!" He also says this when I take something away from him.

Gavin is an orderly guy, just like his dad. He likes to organize his toys by lining all his cars and trucks up - he'll put them side by side, and then make a train out of them. Gavin has been a lot more talkative this week. He says "Tyler" and "yeah" now occasionally, and is saying "dog" pretty consistantly. This morning he starting saying "daddy" instead of "dada." In the last week or two he's also said "diaper," "socks," "candle," and "globe" but not consistantly.

Jake's New Toy

Wednesday Jake built a race car video game controller. Gavin loves the steering wheel, and threw a huge tantrum when we made him leave it.

Santa

Last Friday we took Gavin to get his picture taken with Santa at Bass Pro Shop. He wasn't too happy about it. This was the 2nd picture they took. They didn't give me the 1st one, but it was of Gavin pointing to a train set next to the Santa setup. Typical Gavin. Gavin did enjoy sitting on all the kid sized ATVs set up at the store and "driving." He also liked watching the remote controlled truck and slot cars race.

Ready to go to church

Airplane!

Today we took Gavin to the Museum of Aviation. He's been really into airplanes and helicopters lately, so we figured he'd like it. He did. He loved running around outside looking at all the planes. He was so excited, and did not want to leave.
Gavin wanted to see in the planes but sitting in the cockpit scared him.

Trunk-or-Treat and Trike

BOO!
This week my mom came up to spend some time with Gavin. Jake and I got a chance to run errands and eat out while Grandma babysat, which was really nice. Wednesday Grandma bought Gavin his first trike. He thinks it is a motorcycle and loves it. He likes to hold onto the handlebars and makes motorcycle noises. He can't reach the pedals yet, but pushes it around with his feet and is quickly learning to steer.

Wednesday night was trunk or treat at church. Gavin got dressed up like a lion but didn't want to leave his trike to go bye bye. He threw a big fit on his way out the door, but was ok once the car started moving.

Here he is with his best friends and their mommies at church - Carleigh was a cheerleader and Romana was a scarecrow.
At church Gavin played the beanbag toss and a fishing game inside before going outside to trunk or treat. I walked him around from car to car getting candy while my mom handed out candy from our trunk. He liked putting the candy in his pumpkin, but his favorite part was the beagle that was dressed up like Underdog that he got to pet.
